Compliance and integrity/ ethics is a dynamic specialisation, that is still in full development. SiMi is expert in this field for more than 15 years. It is about much more than a legal analysis. SiMi supports not only in giving strategic advice on the compliance and ethics role/ function and the set up and management of a program, but also on the real implementation and execution.
This could be about topics like privacy, anti-corruption, anti-fraud, whistleblowing regulations (Speak Up), conflict of interests, anti-money laundering regulations, codes of conduct, sanctions/ export control, human rights and ESG. Al these topics have their own rules and regulations (and internal policies) and prioritisation within companies. However, all these topics can overlap and conflict with one another at the same time. This makes it a very interesting and complex field.
I see it as a challenge to make good progression on these types of topics. SiMi is not only sharp on the content but also pragmatic and honest. This is the way to real implementation!
SiMi is very experienced in whistleblowing processes. We are familiar with all roles and players in this process, from end to start. Setting up a robust policy and getting the process to really work is essential to the health of your organisation (and its employees!). Professional and ethical support and handling of a report, as well as the investigation are of vital importance. Dependent on the situation, SiMi support management, ethics complaints committees , investigators or investigation coordinators.SiMi can also be appointed as external Trusted Person.
In more complex case, so-called ‘aftercare’ for persons involved in the process (be it a reporting party, implicated person or witness) is important. SiMi can be appointed as (external) Trusted Person for your organisation (for integrity and behavioural matters). In this role, I can support the organisation and the employees in issues and questions employees would like to discuss in confidence.
There is a growing demand for trusted persons (internally and externally). SiMi has fulfilled this role for years and guides and trains newly appointed trusted persons as well (mentorship). With a little extra support newly trained trusted persons are often very well capable of managing this role very well.

As mediator I am independent and facilitate the conversation between parties. All conversations are confidential. In mediation you jointly work on solving the matter you both are dealing with.

Reporting suspected misconduct is a brave and often difficult decision. Often the entire process from reporting to the closing of a case is very impactful for the persons directly involved. Often this is especially the case or the reporting party being a victim, but also for persons not being victims, or manager involved. Also, aftercare for the implicated person should not be forgotten and can be combined with individual training if needed.
SiMi is specialized in this form of aftercare as important element contributing to successfully closing a complaint procedure for all persons involved and support to moving on and learning from the process.
This type of support is always customized to the context and the needs of the organisation and people involved. It could concern individual coaching or in a group, or training or a combination thereof.
